Surrender at Raffles Hotel had a sale end of last year, and I was exactly the second kiasu person to arrive on the first day. It paid off because, after almost 2 years of waiting (no size for me from the previous sales) and reading all about it, I finally kopped not one, but two Unis Gio Chinos in my size for 50% off (woohoo!) the hefty price tag of 260 SGD each.
Maybe because I have an odd body shape, but no pants ever sit, and stayed, on my waist, as perfectly as the Gio. The slim cut also looks like it was tailored fit, but, yet, extremely comfortable for everyday wear. The Italian cotton fabric used is very breathable for our humid and hot Singapore weather. The details are well taken cared of; Made in the USA, button fly enclosure with Cozoro buttons and a full waist curtain. Finally, the clean, and modern, classic style makes matching tops easy. So much so, I wish I could wear them everyday except for the fact that I am still wearing out my Japan Blue jeans.
The designer, Eunice Lee (geddit? Unis? Eunice?), spent years perfecting the Gio. I always value products designed by someone who dedicates her life to perfecting something so basic.
(It is perfectly okay to look at my butt. I won’t judge.)
I love my Gios so much, I wore it to a wedding, recently, sporting a Margaret Howell blazer here, and took this selfie in a toilet.
Love pants as much as I do? Tell me about it below.
