Even though, this trip was for work, coming to Bandung fulfilled a small part of a promise I made to myself; Visit more cities around my region (South East Asia). I was there for 3 weeks with a exception of a weekend back in Singapore for a wedding. Apart from the client’s office and the cafe around the hotel, I didn’t managed to see much, having only one weekend to do some sightseeing. I did ate a lot though.
It was also the first time trying out my new camera, the Fujifilm XT-1. Giving up the extreme portability of the trusty X100, that I was so used too, was a big thing and truth be told, I really missed it. However, the images from the XT-1/Fujinon XF23mm 1.2f R combo were too spectacular for me to dwell too long on the past.
I was mostly around the Dago area, but I did managed to head out to Braga for a night of street food. I was lucky enough that it happened to be the bi-weekly Braga Culinary Night. Really like what the mayor of Bandung is doing to rejuvenate the city.
In terms of the culinary experiences of Bandung, this (below), to me, was the ultimate highlight. Similar to the yong tou foo we have in Singapore, this spicy bowl of MSG-filled noodle was the bomb in a city that is abundant in good food. I want this again. Soon.
To be honest, I have no idea when I will be going back to Bandung. It was never part of my travel plans. However, this trip will raise a few questions as to why not. It may not be soon, but, one day, it might just happen.
