I was there at about 1 plus in the afternoon on the first day of the National Day Jubilee Weekend. Surprisingly, we waited only about 15 minutes for our table. My friend, Michele, and I shared the beautifully plated (read Instagram-able) Berry Ricotta Hotcake ($19) which tasted the way it should be; Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It is a definite must-try.
Not that we were disappointed per se, but I felt the rest of our orders could have been a bit better. Michele had the Uni Tagliatelle which I thought the fake uni sauce was only okay, however the texture of the pasta, the scallop (or hotate, if you wanna sound more exotic) and the tiger prawn made it worth the 23 bucks… I guess. I had the Golden Man Tou Slider ($23) which, creatively, used Man Tou as buns. However, maybe the chef was trying to be a tad too creative, one of the sides was sweet potato chips when it was crying out for some straightforward salty string fries.
The coffee was average despite having a Slayer espresso machine, whatever that means. The 2oz White (their flat white equivalent, i guess) I had, could do with more punch.
Even though Paddy Hills is quite pricey, I will still go back for the ambience and Berry Ricotta Hotcake. As for the service, approach the female staff, instead of the male staff, and you should not have any problems.
