Singapore Zoo’s River Safari

Last week, I went to the Singapore Zoo’s River Safari for the first time in my life. In fact, the last time I went to the Singapore Zoo was in 2010! And, that was for the Night Safari.

It was my brother’s company’s family day, and he purchased tickets for the whole family. I was actually quite excited since 1) I have not seen the pandas, Jia Jia and Kai Kai, since their arrival, 2) I have not taken photos of anything else but my dog, Wangzai, in a while, and 3) it is always great to go out with the whole family.

I think I found Wangzai’s spirit animal here; the red panda. I don’t think it moved the whole time we were there. Unfortunately, we were only able to catch a glimpse of Jia Jia, but life seems very good for Kai Kai as you can see him here chomping down some bamboo snack.

Until we discovered that they are being harvested into panda pau!

Besides the pandas, there were other river dwellers too, including this magnificent leopard and the friendly, but don’t touch them(!), squirrel monkeys.

After retracing our steps to check if the red panda was actually alive/real (it was since it moved its head a little bit), we went over to the Singapore Zoo proper to check out the white tigers and the koalas.

After having lunch, which came with the ticket, it was just too warm and humid to carry on. So, we had to head home. I will definitely try to come back sooner than later to check out the other amazing animals we have sleeping in our great Zoo.
